Just announced, the 2025 Surly Grappler got decked out in a new “Purple Dust Bunny” color, but it’s still the same 650b-oriented drop-bar dirt shredder and ready for trails and bikepacking all the same. For more on this light lavender machine, read on…
Launched in 2022, the Surly Grappler (originally “Ghost Grappler”), puzzled the minds of many across the industry. With a focus on the 650b wheelsize, large stay-to-stay clearance, and a plethora of mounts, it was prototypically Surly. You either loved it or you didn’t. Thankfully, many of us here at BIKEPACKING.com loved it, with both Neil and Logan putting it through its paces to great effect.
Though there are no changes to the specs, Surly updated the Grappler with a fresh paint job they’ve dubbed “Purple Dust Bunny.” Like prior iterations, the Grappler has clearance for 27.5 x 2.8” or 29 x 2.1″ tires, Surly’s versatile Gnot-Boost hub spacing, a 1×10 MicroShift drivetrain, Tektro mechanical disc brakes, TransX dropper post, and 27.5 x 2.5″ Teravail Ehline tires.
The complete build costs $1,899 USD, with framesets (frame + fork) available for $749. Surly offers a ship-to-home option for those in the US or Canada, or you can head into your local dealer to learn more. Check it out at SurlyBikes.com.
