One of the year’s best bikes in our Gear of the Year Awards just got bigger (and better?). Specialized quietly announced the Chisel Comp EVO, tacking on a longer fork, a couple of upgrades, and new paint. Learn more about the Specialized Chisel Comp EVO here…
The Specialized Chisel Comp was one of my favorite bikes that I reviewd in 2024, enough so that I convinced the team to slot it into our top six bikes of the year in our annual Gear of the Year Awards. That being said, I left one question on the table: how would it perform with a slight longer 130mm form and several component improvements? It seems like Big S read my mind with the release of the Specialized Chisel Comp EVO.
The Chisel Comp EVO has the same D’Aluisio Smartweld M5 Alloy frame as the Specialized Chisel Comp I reviewed, but they made a few key component tweaks to make it a “bigger” bike. First and foremost, the Chisel Comp EVO gets a longer and better fork. Spesh specs it with the 130mm Fox 34 Performance Elite, featuring a Grip2 damper. In addition to the 10mm travel increase, I think this is a better, more sure-footed fork than the SID. As for the geometry, the change in fork length slackens the head tube angle a half a degree to 66° in the Low setting, and it slackens the seat tube to a claimed 75°.

The Specialized Chisel Comp EVO sells for $3,600, which is $200 more than the Comp version I reviewed. To me, it seems like a worthy upgrade, and the black and taupe paint job looks pretty sharp. Better yet, it gives you an idea of what’s possible with this frame. Find more details about the Chisel Comp EVO at Specialized.com.
