Flooding from Hurricane Helene decimated and displaced Rockgeist, our favorite local bikepacking bag company here in Western North Carolina. At this point, they’re working as a skeleton crew and could use a little love this holiday season. Consider buying one of their in-stock items to help them pull through. For those who missed the news, Rockgeist’s workshop was heavily impacted and all but destroyed this fall. On September 27th, 2024, Hurricane Helene devastated Asheville, North Carolina, and much of the Southeastern U.S., causing catastrophic damage. Rockgeist’s 3,000-square-foot workshop was demolished after being inundated with five feet of floodwater from the French Broad River. While the team was able to salvage essential machines and materials to rebuild, they lost most of their raw materials, fabrics, and equipment. More significantly, the disaster has almost halted production, leaving the small company’s seven employees without work. Despite the challenges, Rockgeist remains committed to recovery, and your support can help them rebuild. Fortunately, there are ways to help. If you’re looking for a gift for someone or yourself, consider picking up some of their inventory that’s in stock and ready to ship. Head to their “In Stock” page to find what is now available for purchase. All of these items are new and will ship within 1-3 business days. I highly recommend the Armadillo Bag Protector, one of my favorite pieces of gear, as well as the Meanwhile Basket bag, a classic that I’ve been using recently and really like. You can also pick up several other solid products, such as the Bar Jam Harness and the Ultra PE Dry Bag. Find their full list of in-stock items here, and check out this page to hear more about what happened and their plans moving forward.
