Hello! I’m Robbyansyah. I’m from a satellite city on the outskirts of Jakarta, Indonesia. Beyond my interest in having adventures on weekends and holidays, I’m a full-fledged marketing consultant working in the independent music scene during the weekdays.
Like many cyclists who caught the cycling craze during the COVID-19 pandemic, I found my bliss and a place to express myself through a simple method of transportation: the bicycle. I’ve learned so much from online media and digital touchpoints, which led me to the alternative side of cycling—the non-competitive, adventure-driven world of bikepacking. I felt more at home in this community of the off-the-beaten-path explorers, and I quickly labeled myself one of them.
During the second year of the pandemic, I crossed paths with a rig that would become the apple of my eye: a handsome steel bike with the classic silhouette of a racing bike and compatible with modern specs. To top it off, it was owned by a charming older man (or Ojii-san) who had outfitted it with everything he could without diminishing its appeal as a one-of-a-kind rig.
That bike made me say to myself, “I want to experience what it’s like to be him—to ride peacefully, explore nature, and enjoy camping and coffee in beautiful, soothing landscapes.” That rig belonged to Tetsuo Ehara. His rig was a Singular Peregrine Mark II, fully equipped for bikepacking with panniers tied gracefully to the frame.
From that moment, my interest was piqued. I asked Sam, the owner of Singular, whether the latest Peregrine Mark III frame would fit my average Asian build. He said yes, so we discussed it and ended up arranging shipping from the UK to Indonesia. After that Instagram exchange in the middle of 2022, I built, rode, and began living my life around my Midnight Blue Singular Peregrine, which I cherish as my all-in-one adventure rig.

Over the past two years, this rig has been my trusted companion, taking me on everything from daily 50-kilometer round-trip commutes to quick adventures into the wilderness to multi-day trips, ultra-cycling events, and countless memorable long rides with fellow riders and comrades. It has become my safest place to express my will, explore places I never thought I’d visit, meet friends I never knew, and learn more about myself with every ride.
I built my Singular Peregrine as a platform to communicate my needs. Whether it’s fully packed with bags for days of adventure, with a front rack to carry my bag for commuting, or a simple handlebar bag for quick rides to nearby trails, this bike does it all. If you’re curious about my builds and adventures around the capital city of Indonesia or curious about what it feels like to ride along on the biggest archipelago nation in the world, you can find a ton of documented trips and bike build journals on my Instagram account.
Will these builds and trips ever reach their final destination? I guess not! I’ve become so deeply obsessed with this kind of thing that it’s no longer just a hobby—it’s a way of how I’ll ride and live my life until my legs give up.
