Not to be confused with the Tour Divide, and now in its second edition, the Tor Divide is a single-stage bikepacking event crossing the Peak District in the UK…
The Tor Divide is an unsupported, off-road, bikepacking event crossing the Peak District along quiet trails, bridleways, singletrack and scenic roads. On this self-supported bikepacking ride, rather than a race, participants will be greeted with breakfast in Bamford, and will finish back in Bamford after covering the majority of the National Park.
The name of the event is inspired by the mother of all bikepacking events, the “Tour Divide” and the word “Tor” (hill or rocky peak) which we have in abundance in the Peak District.
Three routes are provided (150km and 250km MTB routes and a 200km gravel route) for participants to chose. To be listed as finishers participants will have to complete any of the 3 routes in less than 32 hours, but everyone is welcome to go as fast or as slow as they like.
This event has been created especially with first-time bikepackers in mind to provide a “safe” environment (never too far or remote from civilisation) to test themselves and their gear, and build confidence to tackle bigger routes and events. Experienced bikepackers looking for a fast finish shouldn’t underestimate the challenge though, as the Peak District is rocky and hilly.
A gravel bike with wide tyres and MTB gearing or a hardtail are recommended for the event.
