After a significant bike crash and injury, professional adventure athlete Rebecca Rusch was forced to re-evaluate what’s important to her. A journey of recovery led her to Bears Ears National Monument with her friend and riding companion Steve “Doom” Fassbinder. Through climbing and cycling on the trip, she finds a healing connection through an intersection of the past, present, and future, adding a timely message for the need to protect wild places. On June 18, 2022 the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe, Navajo Nation, Ute Indian Tribe of the Uintah Ouray, Hopi Nation, and Pueblo of Zuni signed a historic agreement to share management responsibilities for Bears Ears National Monument.
