Fan-favorite Sofiane Sehili finished first in the 2022 Tour Divide on Saturday, completing the 2,700-mile course in just 14 days, 16 hours, and 36 minutes. We knew Sofiane was gunning for a win after his 2019 ride left him scratching just after Brush Mountain Lodge in Colorado due to a massive snow storm. Anyone who’s been following along will know that this year’s conditions were hardly more favourable, with miles upon miles of hike-a-bike due to snow at higher elevations, plus a lot of rain, wind, and hot temperatures further south.
Patrick of the Bikes or Death podcast met up with Sofiane at the finish, shuttled him and his gear to the Bike Ranch in Hachita, New Mexico, and recorded a conversation with him the very next day. Listen to the full 1.5-hour episode below for a deep dive into Sofiane’s experience and some of the many challenges he faced along the way.
