Salsa Cycles just released fresh spec and color options for the Beargrease and newly re-named Heyday! (formerly Mukluk) fat bikes, with the latter coming in at just $1,700 for a complete build. Check out the entire lineup here…
While it might be a few months before we need fat bikes here in the Northern Hemisphere, it’s never too early to start gearing up for winter adventures. In preparation for cooler temps, Salsa Cycles just updated their entire fat bike lineup with fresh paint jobs and updated specs for 2023-24. Both the Beargrease (their XC-inspired carbon racing bike) and the Heyday! (formerly Mukluk, their versatile do-everything fat bike) were updated, and we’ve put together a quick overview on the full lineup below.
2024 Salsa Beargrease
The Salsa Beargrease is based around a carbon frame and matching carbon fork, built for 27.5 x 4.0″ tires (but can fit 26 x 4.6″ in the rear and 26 x 5.0″ in the front), and has geometry inspired by a modern XC bike. The frame and fork both have loads of mounting points, custom-fitting frame bags are available, it has internally routed cables throughout. It comes in five sizes (XS-XL), and for 2024, the Beargrease is offered in five complete build options ranging from $2,899 all the way up to $7,099 USD, as well as a frameset for those looking to build up a winter dream bike.

2024 Salsa HEYDAY!
The Salsa Heyday! (formerly the Mukluk) is their most versatile fat tire bike. Its generous tire clearance allows for maximum flotation on soft surfaces, and its many cargo mounts equip you to ride further. Salsa decided to change the name after a 2020 audit and other external feedback identified the Mukluk name—inspired by traditional Indigenous footwear in Arctic regions—as potentially problematic. The Heyday! shares all the same specs and features as the Mukluk, including adjustable Alternator dropouts, 26 x 4.6″ tires, carbon and aluminum builds, and lots of mounting points for racks, bags, and more. For 2024, the Heyday! is offered in two complete build options priced at $1,699 and $4,299 USD, as well as a frameset.
