The winter ultra season is upon us, and that means one thing: fat bikes! There are a number of winter events over the next few months, including Jay Petervary’s Fat Pursuit Camp on January 2nd and the Backyard Fat Pursuit race on January 7th. The race follows a 60 or 200-kilometre network of snowmobile trails in and around the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, just outside Yellowstone National Park in Idaho.

Kevin Emery put together a video breakdown of his 2021 setup, including details on his rig, gear, and tactics while riding. He’s now attempted the Backyard Fat Pursuit race four times with two finishes and is no stranger to winter exploits with six deployments to Antarctica, two to Greenland, a number of winter expeditions, and more.
