I'm bringing this back up top! ;) I'm trying to see if that would actually work before ordering parts… Since the gang at bikepacking.com must have all the requisite parts to actually try this at no cost… Would anyone mind trying it out?

It's kind of surprising that I can't seem to find ANY info on that type of setup (cargobags and bottles on forks) and even less on rigid carbon forks… It theory is should work, but it would be nice to have someone try the hack and report back. Much like the wide range GRX video. It's outside the specs that wolftooth suggest but…

Yeah that’s sort of my point. It would be nice to see some experimenting done since you might have more options at your disposal than the average rider. no need to test everything, but the usual suspects on both a sus fork and rigid one would be usefull I think. The combos I can think of:

Ortlied fork pack on the triple bosses of an Elkhorn rack with the bottle on the fork
B-RAD with cargo cage and bottle (mostly to see how it fits and if interact with spokes anywhere…)
The fork axle pack from OMM with the B-RAD and mix of cargo and bottle cages…

There isn’t that many options out there but enough to burn through a pocket trying different things until it works…

There are lots of options in here: https://bikepacking.com/index/add-cage-mounts-bike/ how it fits/works is dependent on the fork and the position of the bottle mounts.

Only 89g each, cast aluminium construction, and available for £12.99 in the UK if you shop around. Just back from doing the Badger Divide and they worked perfectly paired with 3L Apidura fork bags.

I think I had misunderstood your original post, the B-RAD will be what you are looking for since the fork has the mounts already. You could get the longest option and potentially have the bag sit under the water bottle cage.

Thing is, My gf's fork already has 3 mounts per side so getting the OMM axle pack is an extra expense i'd rather avoid.

Honestly could make for an interesting video: trying different forks and "rack gizmos" (wolftooth, OMM, etc) to try and fit both. In the same vein as the "Will this cassette fit a GRX 2x" video…

You could try the Old Man Mountain Axle Pack fork mounts combined with Wolf Tooth B-RAD double bottle adapter, or use the Wolf Tooth Morse Cargo Cage and mount a water bottle cage to the angled holes with a few extra bolts and nuts. I haven't personally done these, but the first option should do the trick!

I have a Krampus 2024 model and the fork mounting bosses are inclined about 40 deg to the back. This and the fact that I run BB7 and a 203mm front disc results in most cages hitting either the cable housing inlet or the BB7 body.
Has anybody experience with this and can suggest a cage that fits said setup?
thanks!!

My partner has a super small frame (Salsa Vaya XS) and we wanted to make a frame bag for her but she needs to have bottle cages…somewhere… and having just cages on the fork means all the weight is at the back… Hence the desire to carry both a small 5-8L bag and a bottle on the fork blades. I see a lot of it for suspension forks but them being round must help somewhat.

any thing for blade forks?

Your fork manufacturer will spec a weight range, but I’m skeptical as well. The solution, which I see less often than I would expect, is to go around the entire fork leg with your Voile or other straps. This way your bosses are only loaded in shear, instead of the load trying to pull them out of the fork. The side benefit is that the bag or whatever is more stable. I have used home-made cages from ABS pipe this way for thousands of miles, but recently upgraded to King cages, and will keep putting the straps around the fork legs.

The benefit of this method is even more clear when one crashes, as the twisting load on a bag can be pretty significant. At least with the straps going all the way around it’s not all bourne by the bolt bosses.

I just had a guy at a shop really try to steer me away from buying any sort of fork mount for my landyachtz ab-st, which has a fairly beefy carbon fork and has the 3 whole mounts.

Would be interested to hear any other opinions.

I had to set up rapidly two fork cages for a 1-week bikepacking travel, with Amazon being the only source option. My Ridley Kanzo A gravel bike has a fork with two eyelets only, at a non-compatible spacing. Furthermore, I had to combine them with a front rack that is already using one eyelet. I purchased a Topeak Versacage and modified one of the 3 Versamount zip tie spacers to accomodate a longer screw that would use the lower eyelet. You can remove the zip tie and keep the spacer. An M5 x 30 mm screw had the perfect size. It has proven to be very stable and have run for more than a week without any issue. Load was moderate, around 2 kg per side. Being asymmetric, different orientations of Versamount spacers on left and right side are needed; this took some time to sort out. A few (traditional) zip ties were added to avoid spacer rotation.

Super unobtrusive when not in use, yet you can strap on all kinds of stuff. Can confirm it will hold a 24oz can over rough gravel. It comes in flat and round versions as well as one and two bolt.

They also have all kinds of strap on holders for various bottle sizes too.

Try the Tailfin large cage. I have those bags, works great on my fork.
